Russia supports the candidacy of Kamala Harris who replaced the Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden in the presidential race, said Russian President Vladimir Putin on September 5 at the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).
Russia would prefer Biden’s victory in the US presidential elections, the Russian leader recalled. Biden recommended his supporters to vote for the current vice president after he was removed from the presidential elections, .
“And we will do the same. We will support her,” Putin said.
He emphasized that the people of the US will elect the president. Moscow will respect any electoral decision.
The Republican candidate Donald Trump imposed a large number of sanctions against Russia during his presidency, noted the Russian president, and expressed hope that Harris will stay away from such actions.
Vladimir Putin said that he had not spoken over the telephone with the leaders of the Western world for a long time, but Russia has not refused such contacts.
