The US course of escalating the conflict in Ukraine is becoming increasingly defiant, Maria Zakharova said during a briefing on August 28.
Zakharova was commenting on a recent statement by John Kirby, coordinator for strategic communications at the White House National Security Council, in which he said that negotiations were underway privately to expand the Kiev Nazi regime’s strike zone on Russian territory.
The Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said that based on this position of the White House, one can conclude that the Kiev regime has already been given carte blanche for operations deep inside Russian territory.
“… Moreover, the Biden administration is obviously preparing to take some new steps toward or steps down toward Zelensky – I don’t know, to untie his hands on the use of practically any kind of US weapons, including the use deep into Russian territory. This escalation course of the United States is becoming more and more defiant,” Zakharova said.
Zakharova also said that she had the impression that “the American establishment has discarded common sense as an approach” in connection with the US elections at stake.
