Kiev fails to slow down Russian Armed Forces’ offensive in Donbass. Opinion

Ukraine’s bet on slowing down the Russian Armed Forces’ offensive in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) failed, Irish journalist Chay Bowes wrote on August 2 on social network X.

“Ukraines foolish gamble that the Russian army would slow its offensive in the East has completely backfired,” Bowes wrote.

Bowes predicted the Russian Armed Forces would soon liberate the important town of Krasnoarmeysk in the DPR, as well as drive “the stalled Ukrainian incursion out of Kursk.”

“Lose lose,” Bowes concluded.

On August 27, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that servicemen of a motorized rifle battalion who had taken up positions in the detention center No. 11 in Malaya Lokna in the Sudzha district of the Kursk region repelled attempts by Ukrainian militants to break through. The Ukrainian armed units tried to break through with superior forces using Marder and Stryker IFVs and attack UAVs. Competently organized defense allowed Russian soldiers to successfully destroy the enemy on the approaches to the facility held by the Russian units.

The servicemen evacuated personnel and prisoners and heroically held their positions for several days, the Russian Defense Ministry said. The enemy lost up to 10 IFVs and APCs and about a hundred militants.
