Putin: Russia’s enemies continue their efforts aimed at destabilizing the situation in the country

20.08.2024, Moscow.

The enemies are not abandoning their attempts to destabilize the situation in our country, said Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting with the mothers of Beslan, TASS reports on August 20.

“As for those enemies and adversaries that I mentioned, they are continuing this war in an attempt to destabilize our country. This is obvious,” Putin said.

Vladimir Putin met with mothers who lost their children during the terrorist attack in the town of Beslan in North Ossetia in the North Caucasus 20 years ago. On that day, terrorists took schoolchildren, their relatives, and teachers hostage.

The president began his speech by recalling those tragic events. He noted that the militants who committed the terrorist attack in Beslan had support from abroad. However, Russia was able to defeat the terrorists in the Caucasus and will defeat those who commit crimes in the Kursk region and in Donbass.

The Russian leader stressed that one cannot get used to the fact that Russia’s foreign enemies have no morality.

Prior to that, the president visited the “City of Angels” memorial in Beslan. 266 people who died as a result of the terrorist attack are buried there. He laid flowers at the “Tree of Sorrow” memorial. He paid respect for the memory of the victims as he knelt down.

The president also honored the memory of Alpha and Vympel special forces officers who took part in the storming of school No. 1.
