Russian army units liberates the town of Artyomovo in DPR

The Russian Group of Forces Tsentr liberated the town of Artyomovo, one of the major towns of the Donetsk People’s Republic, the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry said on 19 August.

The press service of the Russian Defence Ministry said that the town of Artyomovo, a suburb of the city of Dzerzhinsk, had been liberated as a result of the defeat of Ukrainian units of the 47th Independent Mechanised Brigade and 95th Independent Airborne Assault Brigade by the Russian Army at this section of the contact line. Also in the areas of the villages of Rozovka, Druzhba, Novhorodskoye and Ptichiego, the 109th Territorial Defence Brigade of Ukraine was defeated.

According to the press service, the Russian military repelled eight counterattacks launched by the Ukrainian units of the 53rd separate, 150th separate mechanized, 68th separate gamekeeper, 142nd separate infantry brigades, the 14th and 15th brigades of the National Guard, and the Lyut assault brigade of the Ukrainian National Police.

As a result of the fighting in this area, the Ukrainian armed units lost about five hundred servicemen, two tanks, one Cossack armored fighting vehicle, four vehicles, an Akatsiya self-propelled gun, a Msta-B howitzer, a Hyacinth-B gun, and a D-30 howitzer were destroyed.

According to the press service, units of the Russian Yug Group of Forces liberated the Vyyemka railway station on the territory of the DPR.
