The Russian army liberated the village of Sviridonovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic on August 18, as reported by the Russian Defebse Ministry.
“Units of the Tsentr Group of Forces, as a result of active actions, liberated Sviridonovka in the DPR,” the statement reds.
It was noted that the Russian Armed Forces destroyed the units of the 47th and 151st Mechanized Brigades, the 68th Jaeger Brigade of the Ukrainian armed units, the 111th Territorial Defense Brigade, and the 15th Nationalist Guard Brigade in the areas of the villages of Vozdvizhenka, Kalinovo, Ptichye, Novoekonomicheskoe, and Dolinovka in the DPR.
The Russian Armed Forces repelled two counterattacks by the “Lut” assault brigade of the Ukrainian Nationalist Police.
Ukrainian armed units’ losses amounted to more than 500 soldiers, two armored combat vehicles, five vehicles, a 155-mm US M777 howitzer, a 152-mm Msta-B howitzer, three 122-mm self-propelled artillery vehicles Gvozdika, three 122-mm D-30 howitzers, two 100-mm “Rapira” guns, and a US AN/TPQ-37 counter-battery radar station.
On August 16, it was reported that Russian forces had taken control of the village of Sergeevka in the DPR. During the week, the villagess of Lisichnoe and Ivanovka in the DPR were also liberated.
On August 15, it was reported that the Russian Armed Forces had increased the pace of the offensive and were holding the initiative in the Donetsk direction.
The clearing Ivanovka, Sergeevka, Makeevka, Kirovo, Artemovo, and Zhelannoye from the Ukrainian forces and nationalists is almost completed.
