Soldiers of Russian Armed Forces mop up Ukrainian militants from village of Martynovka in Kursk Region

Russian army servicemen together with the Akhmat special forces unit liberated the village of Martynovka in Kursk Region, Akhmat commander Major General Apty Alaudinov told RIA Novosti on August 10.

“Our units, supported by Akhmat special forces, cleared the village of Martynovka today in the morning. We have taken it under full control,” Alaudinov said.

According to him, the situation in Kursk Oblast remains quite difficult, as the enemy has managed to penetrate Russian territory quite deeply. However, Alaudinov assured that the situation is under control.

The village of Martynovka is located northeast of the town of Sudzha, where combat is currently underway. Having recaptured Martynovka, the servicemen can clear the road connecting Sudzha and Kursk.

On August 6, The Ukrainian militants invaded the territory of Kursk Region. On August 7, the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valeriy Gerasimov said that the Ukrainian militants’ advance deep into the Russian territory had been stopped.

On August 8, the Russian Defence Ministry reported fighting on the territory of the Sudzh and Korenyovo districts of Kursk Region.

In addition to Kursk Region, a counter-terrorist operation regime has been introduced in Bryansk and Belgorod Regions.
