India and Vietnam approved a new action plan to expand strategic ties, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on August 1, News18 informed.
According to the information, on August 1, Modi met with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh. The negotiations took place at the Prime Minister’s Office in New Delhi. Immediately after, the politicians spoke at a press conference.
“We have adopted a new action plan to further strengthen our comprehensive strategic cooperation,” said Modi. According to him, both countries will cooperate to make the Indo-Pacific region prosperous — free, open, and rule-based.
“We support development, not expansionism,” stressed the Indian politician.
As reported by the Ministry of Information and Communications platform of Vietnam, Vietnam vn, Pham Minh Chinh said that during the negotiations, both sides shared strategic views on today’s world, especially on the “unprecedented changes related to nature and human development.”
It was noted that the 4.0 industrial revolution and AI have fundamentally changed production methods, the functioning of the world, and human behavior.
“Both sides recognize that the Asia-Pacific and Indian Ocean regions play a leading role in global economic growth but are also places where the competition among great powers is fierce,” the publication says.
The parties pointed to the complication of the security issue, which is becoming universal. They noted significant progress in mutual relations. The countries agreed to continue strengthening traditional relations.
Thus, India and Vietnam intend to further deepen cooperation within the UN and ASEAN, promote the cooperation mechanisms of the Mekong subregion, and support security and freedom of navigation in the East Sea and aviation flights over it.
Previously, Chinh and Modi jointly opened the Military Software Park in Nha Trang. Nine cooperation documents between the ministries and departments of the two countries were also handed over in their presence.
These documents relate to joint work in the following areas: law and justice; radio and television broadcasting; finance; culture and cultural preservation; tourism; medicinal plant production; agriculture; and education.
