Russian Energy Ministry takes important decision on gasoline exports

31.07.2024, Moscow.

The ban on gasoline exports from Russia will be extended for September-October 2024, Pavel Sorokin, first deputy head of the Russian Energy Ministry, told reporters on July 31.

“A decision in principle has been made to extend the ban on gasoline exports from Russia for September-October,” Sorokin said.

According to the deputy minister, this way the Russian government insures the situation against possible problems.

On February 29, the government imposed a temporary ban on gasoline exports from March 1 to August 31 and increased the norms for diesel fuel sales at exchange trading.

The ban did not apply to supplies under international intergovernmental agreements, including with EAEU member states, to fuel purchased by citizens for personal use, as well as to fuel supplied as part of international humanitarian aid. The ban was lifted in late May until June 30, 2024, but resumed in July.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak explained that the restrictions on exports of certain types of fuel were introduced as one of the measures to stabilize the situation on the oil products market.
