Kurginyan explains how Vietnam managed to maintain its fighting spirit

Vietnam managed to stay on its feet while implementing market reforms but not abandoning communist ideology, recalled philosopher, political scientist, the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan on June 29 on the Conversation with a Sage program on the Zvezda radio station.

“Vietnam did adopt market reforms. The Communist Party of Vietnam adopted market reforms in 1986, when we were still talking about the policy of acceleration. And they began to implement them rapidly,” the political scientist recalled. Thanks to this, Vietnam was able to overcome huge inflation and become a developing country that attracts massive investments from abroad.

According to Kurginyan, the country remains attractive to investors because the Communist Party of Vietnam strictly enforces law and order in the country.

“Investments are coming there because everything is very strict and orderly. Is corruption growing along with the market? “Yes, but, there is the so-called Vietnamese principle of the blazing furnace’ (a very impressive name),” the expert explained, giving an example of how this order is maintained. According to him, one elderly woman in Vietnam who illegally received a total of $12 billion was executed, and this is not the only example.

At the same time, the country not only developed its economy, but also managed to preserve the fighting spirit among the people. In particular, this was demonstrated in 1979, when Vietnam, on its own, “very quickly” stopped the Chinese invasion, while asking the USSR not to interfere.

The Vietnamese Communist Party was able to survive due to the fact that it was the driving force in the national liberation struggle, Kurginyan emphasized.

“Where did communist parties remain standing? Well, where did they survive, and where did they collapse? They survived in those countries where the Red Banner of the communist movement was carried out along with the banner of the national liberation struggle against colonialism: whether it was China under Mao Zedong, North Korea, Ho Chi Minh’s Vietnam, Castro’s Cuba or elsewhere – when the Red Banner was essentially the banner of the national liberation struggle, it remained flying, the political scientist concluded.

According to the expert, Vietnam is a difficult but very promising partner for Russia. It is particularly supported by positive attitude towards Russians, Russian culture, as well as the tradition of struggle against the US.
