Russian army expands capabilities for intercepting video from Ukrainian drones

28.07.2024, Russia.

The Russian military has mastered the technique of intercepting video signals from the Ukrainian FPV drones, making it possible to determine the position of the operators, said a former commander of a communications unit with the call sign Kalina, TASS reported on July 28.

This approach makes it possible for Russian servicemen not only to identify enemy routes, but also to determine the location of enemy UAVs operators.

Specialists use various equipment for this purpose, including radio-electronic reconnaissance. Such interception allows effective strikes and improves the overall combat strategy.

The image from the enemy drone can be intercepted by specialists with the help of this or that type of equipment, it is RER – radio electronic reconnaissance,” the specialist explained.

He added that the soldiers “identify the enemy’s routes, the drone’s track, can identify the operator, where it came from and strike back later on. In general, the system is getting smarter.

Kalina became involved in drone design after receiving a shrapnel wound when he volunteered in the SMO zone and promoted to commander of a communications unit.
