Crews of naval ships from Algeria, India and China were welcomed by Russian President Vladimir Putin in his speech at the Main Naval Parade in St. Petersburg, the Kremlin press service reported on July 28.
“We are sincerely glad to welcome at the Main Naval Parade the crews of warships of Algeria, India, China, representatives of dozens of foreign countries and delegations, who together with us celebrate today’s holiday, congratulate our sailors and commanders,” the Russian president said. He noted that since the times of Peter the Great, the Russian Navy has retained its importance “in the development and strengthening of good, partner relations with other states.”
It should be noted that the training ship Summam of the Algerian Navy, the guided-missile destroyer Jiaozuo of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLA) and the frigate Tabar of the Indian Navy marched in parade formation along with Russian ships. In addition, the PLA’s Hunhu oil supply ship also arrived in St. Petersburg.
Rear Admiral Htein Win, commander of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Navy (RNS), and Admiral Hu Zhongmin, commander of the PLA Navy, also arrived in the northern capital for the naval parade.
