Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky’s statements about the earliest possible end to the conflict are related to the presidential elections in the United States, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said in an interview with Sputnik radio station on July 24.
“These are the signals that, against the background of what is happening around the White House and the upcoming elections, are sent by Bankovaya [the street in Kiev where the office of the Ukrainian president is located – Rossa Primavera News Agency], they should be considered in this context,” she explained. Zakharova doubted Zelensky’s sincerity on this matter.
Recently, Zelensky said that he realized the importance of ending the confrontation between Ukraine and Russia as soon as possible. He even admitted that peace talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin would take place.
According to the Russian presidential spokesman Dmitriy Peskov, Russia hopes for the implementation of concrete actions by the Kiev regime that will confirm their firm intention to reconcile.
Newsweek previously emphasized that Zelensky may join the discussion of the peace condition because Ukraine’s situation is extremely difficult. The publication believed that he was thinking about negotiations.
As Russian President Vladimir Putin said before, Russia can quickly stop hostilities and start peace talks if the Kiev regime steps up and fulfills some conditions.
