Сar of a GRU officer blown up in Moscow

An attempt on the life of the Russian Main Intelligence Directorate’s (GRU) major Andrey Torgashev was committed in Moscow by unknown persons, Interior Ministry spokeswoman Irina Volk said on July 24, Kommersant informed.

The officer’s car was blown up in a parking lot in Moscow. According to Kommersant, the major’s feet were torn off.

His wife was also injured. Both of them are now in hospital.

The newspaper has learned that the officer was responsible for communications in his unit. Due to the victim’s occupation, a version of the involvement of the Ukrainian Security Service in the explosion is being investigated.

The head of the Investigative Committee of Russia Aleksandr Bastrykin instructed his central office to control the case.
