The strange combination of Lucifer and Valkyries in the anthem of PMC Wagner reflects the ideology of the Azov movement (organization banned in Russia), political scientist, philosopher, and leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said in an interview to the Metametrica YouTube channel published on June 4.
“Here’s some private army fighting for Russia, and by the way, doing it pretty well. And of course, amidst the ongoing war, the last thing you want to do is to criticize. Then you look at the anthem, and there’s the phrase ‘where, to the shouts of chimeras, conductor Lucifer directs the flight of the Valkyries’,” Kurginyan noted.
The political scientist emphasized that the first feeling that these lines evoke in the listener is amazement. “Why should the conductor Lucifer direct the flight of the Valkyries. They should be directed by Wotan, anyone else, but not Lucifer,” he emphasized.
The philosopher noted that he has great respect for Scandinavian mysticism and its ideas about Valhalla, the final battle and beyond, about “straining every nerve in a metaphysical battle.” However, it is not clear what Lucifer has to do with the Valkyries?
But there is still a certain logic in these lines, the political scientist emphasized. “Merging of Wotan and Lucifer is a specific feature of an openly neo-Nazi system in the post-war world,” Kurginyan noted.
The political analyst reminded that the Azov movement (organization banned in Russia) adopted this system, and it is absolutely unclear why Russian structures are trying to implement it in Russia.
“Well, you need to say, ‘where Lord God with the archangel Michael directs our actions to destroy evil’ and put it into a poetic peace, and this will be Orthodoxy,” the political scientist cited an alternative.
Kurginyan emphasized that this version could also be combined with criticism of communism if one wanted to, but the main thing is that it would have no connection to Nazism.
