Kurginyan tells what the Russian social and cultural codes were broken for

The collapse of the Soviet Union was associated with an attempt to make the Russians change their social and cultural codes, and now Russia has to overcome the consequences, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, philosopher and political scientist Sergey Kurginyan said on June 4 in an interview to the Metametrika YouTube channel.

Many hundred years, Russia existed as an empire “with the plus sign;” the Russians are imperial people accustomed to be the basis of a huge country and to be responsible for it. However, part of the late-Soviet elite, in particular, of the KGB elite led by then KGB chief Yuri Andropov, began to implement a plan of Russia’s integration into Europe. To this end, they had to disintegrate the USSR in order to dispose of the Middle Asian and Caucasian republics. The Russians were supposed to transform into an ordinary European nation.

In particular, Kurginyan told that philosopher Anatoly Rakitov supervised by the head of the Fifth Chief Directorate of the KGB Filipp Bobkov directly said that Russia needed to change its social and cultural codes.

“It was in 1992, ‘the civilization must change its social and cultural codes,’” the political scientist reminded his statement.

Kurginyan stressed that it is extremely difficult to change a nation’s cultural codes. “Instead of changing these social and cultural codes, they broke these codes, and they made a mutation,” the philosopher explained.

The political scientist noted that it remains unknown whether this was what they wanted, but the idea itself to change the codes was part of the dream to integrate Russia into Europe, “with a similar burgher as they have.”

“We will be like them, and everything will be great,” Kurginyan explained the logic of this political actor. The political scientist stressed that Russia never integrated into Europe.

Now Russia has to sort out the consequences of its transformation from an empire into an ordinary European country.

The late Soviet elite found it appropriate to dispose of the Middle Asian and Caucasian republics because of their high birth rate leading to larger Islamic population than the Russian one. However, the outcome is absolutely different: Russia now has a huge population of Islamic migrants who poorly integrate into the Russian society while the republics are now under the influence of the countries that are hostile to Russia.

Kurginyan explained the mechanism of this process. When there was decent life in Middle Asia, people living there had to reason to migrate to Russia. “And after you made dark ages there, they [the Middle Asian people] flee here,” the political scientist stressed.

“And then the question is when exactly will this place be occupied by the others, e.g. the US, the UK, the Turks, and then you will get energy flows from Middle Asia more powerful than yours, how will you then feed your population?” Kurginyan asked.

Also, the collapse of the USSR turned out to be more profound that the supporters of the collapse expected. Not only the outskirts, but also Belarus and Ukraine defected. Now, there is a neo-Nazi pro-Western regime in Kiev, and Russia has to fight for every town or wood line.

According to Kurginyan, the Russian authorities have to acknowledge that the project of integrating Russia into Europe was a mistake and that it has failed, and only after that they should declare a new national policy.
