Joint naval drills between the Russian Navy and the Chinese Navy are taking place in the Pacific Ocean, the press service of the Pacific Ocean Fleet (POF) informed on July 16.

The exercise is scheduled for July 15-17, 2024 in the South China Sea.

“The maritime part of the naval drills of the Russian Navy and PLA Navy ‘Maritime Cooperation – 2024’ began with practicing an anti-submarine episode, during which joint efforts in the waters of the South China Sea detected and conditionally destroyed an ‘enemy’ submarine. In the course of practical actions, the combat crews of the Russian and Chinese ships carried out firing from rocket launchers,” the POF press service wrote.

The following ships are involved in the exercises: corvettes “Gromky” and “Rezky” of the Pacific Fleet, three warships and an auxiliary vessel of the PLA Navy.

The first joint Russian-Chinese exercise took place in 2005 in the Yellow Sea. They have been conducted regularly since 2012.
