Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov points out that there are no prerequisites for talks on Ukraine

14.07.2024, Moscow.

There are no prerequisites for talks on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict as long as Ukraine wants to be included in NATO, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in an interview with Russia 1 TV channel journalist Pavel Zarubin published on his Telegram channel on July 14.

In general, the alliance says: ‘Ukraine will be in NATO.’ That is, they are saying, ‘We will never take into account Russia’s main concern, which was a cornerstone in starting the SMO.'” What does it mean? That there are no prerequisites for negotiations yet,” Peskov emphasized.

According to him, this is a fundamental condition, as well as the goals of the special operation in Ukraine, initially set by the Russian president. “We need to work and achieve the goals set by our president,” he added.

On February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of a military special operation in Ukraine, which should lead to the demilitarization and denazification of the country’s territory.
