The United States stimulates incitement of hatred against political opponents, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said after the assassination attempt on the 45th US President Donald Trump in her Telegram channel on July 14.

Zakharova emphasized that it was not even two months ago that she recalled the American practice of assassination attempts and assassinations of its presidents as well as presidential candidates.

She added that in May of this year there were open statements in the media about “the need to kill the presidential candidate, former president of the country Donald Trump.” At the same time, the legitimacy of elections in Russia is criticized, and the legitimacy of elections in the United States itself is not discussed.

On July 13, Trump was attempted assassination at a rally of Republican supporters in Butler, Pennsylvania. As a result of shots, Trump was lightly wounded and taken out by security, however, he managed to draw out his arm and show a clenched fist to the audience, which caused applause.

The shooting also killed a member of the audience and critically injured two others. The shooter (20 years old) was killed by special services at the scene.

In turn, the current US President Joe Biden immediately said that he did not have enough information about the attempted assassination of candidate Trump. Later, Biden spoke with Trump about the incident.

The White House then said that Biden intends to address the nation after the assassination attempt on his rival in the presidential race.
