The unrecognized Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) intends to open the port of Famagusta for access by members of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), TRNC Public Works and Transport Minister Erhan Arıklı told Anadolu on July 11.
He said the TRNC has applied to include Famagusta port in the OTS Sister Ports program, which already integrates eight ports. “The inclusion of Famagusta Port in the program will benefit both TRNC and other members of the OTS,” Arykli stressed.
Continuing, the minister said that developing political, cultural and trade relations between the OTS members “will contribute to global stability both regionally and globally.”
He added that the TRNC wants to capitalize on the growing global trade, not only economically but also politically.
