The Iranian parliament has called on the parliaments of the BRICS countries to jointly counter Western sanctions, Iranian MP and Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said this at the 10th BRICS Parliamentary Forum on July 11.
He suggested that the BRICS parliamentary forum should focus on “the issue of economic sanctions and measures to counter unilateral restrictions that pose a significant threat to the well-being of the people of the BRICS countries.”
Ghalibaf noted that Iran favors establishing legislative mechanisms and organizing mutual actions in this field that could lead to effective results.
Acting Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Qiani said that BRICS membership has already benefited Tehran.
