First F-16s from Denmark and the Netherlands shipped to Ukraine

The first batch of US-made F-16 fighter jets was sent to Ukraine from Denmark and the Netherlands. Antony Blinken, head of the US State Department, announced this on July 10, Reuters reports.

“And those jets [F-16s] … will be flying in the skies of Ukraine this summer,” Blinken said.

He added that F-16 jets have long been on Ukraine’s wish list because of their destructive power.

Blinken emphasized that a robust military aid package for Ukraine would be presented in the next couple of days, which would create a clear and strong bridge for Ukraine’s membership in NATO.

Denmark has pledged to provide 19 F-16s, while the Netherlands has promised to deliver 24 jets. Both countries were the driving force behind the international coalition to supply Ukraine with fighter jets.
