Baltic Fleet servicemen accomplished training on the FPV drone pilot program, taking into account the experience of the special operation to denazify Ukraine, the fleet’s press service informed on June 27 on the official Internet portal of the Russian Defense Ministry.

The trainees mastered the skills necessary for an FPV drone pilot during 140 hours of training, the training took place at the training grounds of the Baltic Fleet. The servicemen familiarized themselves with military topography, engineering, practiced flying on special simulators and then on real FPV drones.

The pilots were given more than 60% of the total number of training hours for practical flights. In particular, the servicemen learned how to use drones to defeat the enemy’s manpower and military equipment with the help of a reusable payload drop system. They learned how to correct artillery and mortar fire, confirm the engagement of targets, and master the construction of a digitally transformed image of the terrain and objects on it with precise georeferencing to a given coordinate system created on the basis of images.

As part of the training, the trainees also practiced the issues of preparing drones for flight and their operation in difficult weather conditions. The classes were conducted under the guidance of instructors with experience in the combat use of FPV drones during the special military operation to denazify Ukraine.
