Iran’s Foreign Ministry says country is ready to sign a new treaty with Russia

A comprehensive cooperation agreement between Russia and Iran is ready to be signed, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Mehdi Safari said, RIA Novosti informed on June 26.

“The content of this agreement is ready, there are no problems in this regard. I feel it will soon be signed by the leaders of the two states,” the Iranian diplomat said.

According to him, there are no obstacles to the signing of this agreement.

On June 25, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko said that Russia expects to sign a comprehensive cooperation agreement with Iran very soon. According to him, work on the agreement’s text, which has been underway for several years, is close to completion.

Currently, Russia and Iran have the Treaty on the basis for mutual relations and the principles of cooperation, which was signed in Moscow in 2001.
