Anti-saboteur boat Grachonok launched in Rybinsk

A ceremony of launching the anti-saboteur boat of Project 21980 Grachonok took place at the shipyard Vympel in Rybinsk. The press service of the government of the Yaroslavl region wrote on June 7.

Nizhny Novgorod design bureau Vympel developed the vessel ordered by the Russian Navy.

“Today, we have reaffirmed the status of the Yaroslavl region as one of the main shipbuilding centers of the country,” the governor of the region Mikhail Evrayev said at the ceremony.

This is the ninth vessel of Project 21980 built by Rybinsk shipbuilders. “Five Grachonoks are serving in the [Russian] Ministry of Defense, and four – in the Rosgvardia [National Guard of Russia],” added the head of the region.

The boats are equipped with the latest technology and are distinguished by high maneuverability and speed.

The vessels withstand waves up to 2 meters.

Project 21980 Grachonok is designed to perform a wide range of tasks, but its main purpose is to combat sabotage and terrorist forces and means of the enemy.

The boat can speed up to 23 knots, its cruising range is 200 miles, and its autonomy is 5 days.

The launching of the Grachonok became another significant event in the history of Rybinsk shipbuilding.
