FSB uncovers agent network of Main Directorate of Intelligence of Ukrainian Defense Ministry in Sevastopol

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has detained agents of the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry and Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) who were planning terrorist attacks in Sevastopol against Russian servicemen, the FSB press service published a video of the agents’ detention on June 3.

The agents were recruited by the Ukrainian security agencies in Zaporozhye Region. They were to organize sabotage against the servicemen of the Black Sea Fleet. In addition, they were planning to commit terrorist acts at military, transportation, and energy facilities, the FSB said.

During the search of the Ukrainian agents, more than 5.5 kg of UK-made explosives, as well as ready-made improvised explosive devices, were found. Components for the bombs were delivered to the agents in various ways – by mail, shuttle buses, through third parties and hiding places.

Investigative bodies have opened criminal cases under the articles “terrorist act” and “state treason”.

On May 31, an SBU agent who was preparing an assassination attempt on a high-ranking military officer was detained in Sevastopol.
