Anadolu: Hamas attacks Israeli tanks and military

The armed wing of the Palestinian group Hamas said the movement’s fighters attacked seven Israeli tanks as well as Israeli forces during fighting in the Gaza Strip, Anadolu Agency reported on May 31.

Hamas representatives made a series of statements detailing the clashes in the enclave.

The armed wing said they attacked three Merkava tanks in the Yibna refugee camp in the town of Rafah using Yassin-105 missiles.

They also said that Yasin-105 missiles hit another Merkava tank near the Dar al-Salam mosque.

In addition, they reported the attack on Israeli forces advancing in Tal Za’aruba using mortars.

Earlier in the day, Hamas said they attacked an Israeli five-man foot patrol in Rafah with an anti-personnel explosive device, causing casualties. They also said they fired an anti-personnel shell at three soldiers near al-Shuqa municipality in Rafah.

In the same area, the military wing of Islamic Jihad (organization banned in Russia), the Al-Quds Brigades, claimed to have fired mortar shells at Israeli soldiers and vehicles in Yibna camp and around Tal Zaarub.

Al-Qassam Brigades reported that it attacked a Merkava tank in Beit Lahiya in the northern Gaza Strip with an explosive device.

They also said their fighters detonated a locally-made Claymore mine next to a group of soldiers in Beit Lahiya on an Israeli tank, killing and wounding them.

They also hit a Merkava tank near the Sheikh Zayd Mosque with a Yasin-105 missile.

Hamas said that in the Jabaliya refugee camp area in northern Gaza, their fighters attacked Israeli forces inside a house.
