US calls for Ukraine to strike Russian territory with American weapons reflect the hopelessness of the Western world says Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, journalist Pavel Zarubin reported in his Telegram account on May 26.
“It looks like agony,” the minister said in an interview. He emphasized that Washington cannot achieve its goals by means within the framework of international law even during hostilities.
According to Lavrov, the US has been seeking to pit Ukraine against Russia and its people for the past decades. The minister also pointed to the current position of the US State Department and President Joe Biden, who continue to adhere to the ban on attacks on Russian territory using US weapons provided to Ukraine.
It should be noted that on May 22, a group of American congressmen made a proposal to the head of the Pentagon Lloyd Austin to allow Ukraine to carry out such strikes, citing the deteriorating situation of the AFU on the front.
Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov, in response to these calls, said that they were aimed at provoking war “to the last Ukrainian“.
