The West seeks to make space the theatre of possible hostilities, Yuri Borisov, head of Roscosmos State Corporation for Space Activities, said on May 23 at a meeting of heads of space agencies of BRICS member states.
Borisov said the Western countries’ desire to turn space into an arena of possible hostilities is alarming.
The United States, France, Britain and Japan voted against the draft UN Security Council resolution proposed by Russia to ban the deployment of weapons in space.
It called for urgent action against weapons deployment. It proposed measures to prevent the use of force in space, from space against facilities on Earth, and from Earth against space objects.
