Novosibirsk engineers create an airplane-type cargo drone Sarma

22.05.2024, Novosibirsk.

Engineers of Novosibirsk State Technical University created an unmanned aerial vehicle of airplane type Sarma for cargo transportation and aerial agricultural work, the press service of the government of the Novosibirsk region wrote on May 21.

“The unmanned aerial vehicle is designed for aerial agricultural work, cargo delivery and long-term monitoring and is capable of lifting loads of up to 100 kilograms, with a range of up to 1,200 kilometers,” the statement reads.

It is noted that the new aircraft has an innovative wing shape – wavy profile. This design feature increases operational safety and improves the takeoff and landing characteristics of the aircraft.

In addition, the aircraft has a rigid power frame made of aluminum alloys, which surrounds a less strong but more pliable plastic skin.

Such a design of the wing and fuselage, according to the idea of specialists, will allow to place various systems of spraying or seeding. In turn, the work of all systems will provide a powerful generator.

“The main advantage of the aircraft is its high energy efficiency,” the statement reads.

The presentation of the new UAV took place at the university on May 21. The event was attended, in particular, by Minister of Science and Innovation Policy of the Novosibirsk Region Vadim Vasiliev and Deputy Governor of the region Irina Manuylova.

Manuylova said that the Scientific and Production Center for Unmanned Aerial Systems is being created in the region. At the same time, the region is assigned the role of one of the Russian centers of competence in this field.

“We plan to establish the Advanced Engineering School in Novosibirsk State Technical University with the support of the regional government, which will train elite personnel for the aircraft building industry. The university has the necessary laboratories, design center, and educational programs for this purpose,” she stressed.

For his part, Vasiliev emphasized the fundamentally new industrial characteristics of the Sarma, noting the independent work of the university’s specialists. He expressed the hope that in the near future, this machine will take to the air, showing its complete capabilities.
