Russian Foreign Ministry: Ukrainian crisis may go beyond its current geographical borders

04.04.2024, Moscow.

The conflict between Ukraine and Russia may go beyond its geographical borders due to the actions of even one NATO member state, Deputy Foreign Minister Aleksandr Grushko said in an interview with RIA Novosti on 4 April.

“Due to the adventurous actions of even one or two NATO member states, the Ukrainian crisis may go beyond its geographical borders and acquire a completely different scale,” Grushko said.

He pointed to the words of French President Emmanuel Macron as evidence of readiness to follow the path of escalation of this conflict. At the same time, according to the diplomat, this is happening in the context of a strategic defeat that the West is suffering “on the battlefield.”

Macron said at a press conference in Paris on February 26 in support of Ukraine that he did not rule out the possibility of sending NATO troops to the country.

The Wall Street Journal wrote yesterday, citing an unnamed source, that Macron dismissed the need to involve NATO or the United States in case of a Russian strike on the French military, which Paris could send to the zone of Russia’s special military operation.
