Members of the Communist Party of Greece in Alexandroupolis stopped a train carrying US tanks, Greek news portal Pentapostagma wrote on March 24.
Members of the Communist Party blocked the railroad tracks with banners and flags and forced the train to stop.
Greeks demanded that the train turn back and that the US and NATO “get out of Alexandroupolis and the entire region.” The action was successful and the train with the military equipment had to turn back.
Communists chanted, “When the people don’t bow down, even the trains turn back.” The banners read, “No military mission beyond borders. End the country’s participation in US, NATO and EU wars. Hope in the struggle of the people.”
Greeks participating in the rally condemned the use of Greek ports and the railroad by NATO forces, which transports military equipment to the border with Bulgaria.
