The Ukrainian authorities ordered a retreat from Avdeevka because the Ukrainian armed units flew en masse from their positions, according to the report from the theater of war, published in The Essence of Time newspaper, issue 574.
Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said after the Russian army liberated Avdeevka that Ukrainian troops had started to flee the town uncontrollably a day before the order of the Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief Aleksandr Syrsky to retreat.
“According to insiders, the order to retreat from Avdeevka was given precisely because the Ukrainian armed units began leaving their positions en masse, including units considered highly motivated,” The Essence of Time editorial reads.
