Myanmar minister: Russia should become the republic’s main investor

The authorities of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar hope that Russia will soon become the most important investor in the country’s economy, Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Dr. Kan Zaw said on January 27 on the margins of the Russia exhibition and forum within the framework of the II Russia-Myanmar Business Forum.

Kan Zaw said Russia has now invested $94 million in Myanmar’s economy. He said Russian investment has not yet made it to the top 3 investments in Myanmar, but, he reported, “we have high expectations.” The Myanmar minister said he was confident that through interaction and dialog, investment from Russia would definitely increase over the next few years.

He said Myanmar hopes that Russia will become the most important investor in the country’s economy. He invited all Russian businesses and Russian investments to Myanmar.

“Please come and see for yourself,” Kang Zaw said.
