Kurginyan: The “nude party” is a result of the formation of “homo post-Sovieticus”

The “nude party” was an episode for the life of homo post-Sovieticus, a post-Soviet man that was formed over more than 30 years, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, philosopher and political scientist Sergey Kurginyan said on December 29 on the program Conversation with a Sage on the Zvezda radio station.

A long time ago philosopher Aleksandr Zinovyev, who played a role in the disintegration of the USSR, called the Soviet man “homo Sovieticus.” However, the Soviet man was not a “homo Sovieticus,” but he was a much more complex and deeper phenomenon bearing a development potential, Kurginyan believes.

Meanwhile, “homo post-Sovieticus” has been formed over the past 30-35 years. Its formation is a result of the promotion of certain trends, personnel practices, selection, standards, funding, the principle of “combining certain way of life with certain cultural trends, types of approaches to everything, social atomization (‘think about yourself and nothing else’), the principle of absolutely non-Russian ordinariness (‘keep simple and people will turn to you’), human simplicity…”

According to Kurginyan, the “nude party” was part of something much larger than the event itself.

This is part of the enforced debauchery – it is enforced! It is part of certain elite behavior, all this oligarchic celebration in Courchevel that used to be discussed a while ago. This is part of the TV and Internet environment showing whom to look up to and whom to follow. This is a deliberate corruption of our population,” Kurginyan said.

He reminded that in the “homo Sovieticus” period, whose defects were so much discussed in the late Soviet period, one could not imagine anything like the “nude party” simply because “the climate was different.”
