A warehouse of missiles for the Patriot air defense system and industrial infrastructure were destroyed in Kiev as a result of a combined massive strike carried out by the Russian Armed Forces, the Mysl Polska newspaper reported on January 3.
“The Ukrainian side lost extremely expensive weapons supplied from NATO countries and elements of industrial infrastructure,” the newspaper reported.
The newspaper emphasized that advanced air defense equipment supplied to Ukraine by NATO countries was massively concentrated in the Kiev area.
“The USA and other NATO countries, including Germany, have equipped Kiev’s air defense forces with state-of-the-art equipment to fight drones, airplanes and ballistic missiles,” the newspaper wrote.
All this, the newspaper emphasized, makes Kiev’s air defenses “one of the strongest in Europe.”
Nevertheless, according to the newspaper, Russian troops managed to crack Kiev’s air defense system with several waves of attacks and hit their intended targets.
“The scale of the Russian raid and its effectiveness broke the extremely rigid and repressive system of Ukrainian censorship. Videos and photos of several Russian strikes on industrial and military infrastructure have hit the Internet,” the publication said.
According to the newspaper, some of the strike results were published by foreigners, including an unnamed “industrialist from Greece.” In addition, several pictures were obtained from video surveillance cameras, the control over which, according to the newspaper, was seized by “Russian hackers.”
The newspaper notes that Ukraine was unpleasantly surprised by the scale and form of the attack.
“This is the second massive Russian airstrike on Ukraine after December 29, 2023, which indicates that the Russian side has retained a large number of newly produced means of air attack, including cruise missiles, and has begun using them in a winter air and missile offensive,” the publication concluded.
On January 2, the Russian Defence Ministry said that it had launched a precision-guided weapons strike on enterprises of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex located in Kiev and its suburbs, as well as storage sites for missiles, ammunition and aircraft supplied to the Kiev regime by Western countries.
