The current conflict between Russia and the West reflects the perpetual struggle of two civilizations: the one of love and the one of death, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, political scientist and philosopher Sergey Kurginyan said on December 15 on the program Conversation with a Sage on the Zvezda radio station.
According to the political scientist, the Western world has always lacked any actual unity, so as soon as we say that the West is united we are in a trap. Kurginyan suggested that we should remember what exactly the Roman legions wrote when they ground down into dust and covered with salt the Greek towns, not Carthage.
“What did they write? ‘Revenge for Troy!’ This means Rome identifies itself with Troy, and in this sense there is no more unreconcilable conflict than the one between the Greek antiquity and the Roman one,” Kurginyan noted.
The political scientist explained that Russia, when it chose the Orthodox religion, took up the historical torch from Byzantium, i.e. the Greek antiquity, which confronts the Roman one. However, in order to get closer to the core of the conflict between them, we need to go even deeper, into the metahistorical period (i.e. the one that we only know based on references from the works of ancient historians but not from direct historical evidence).
Kurginyan reminded that the mythical founder of Rome, Aeneas, whose deeds are depicted in the well-known Aeneid by ancient Roman poet Virgil, worshiped ancient dark goddess Cybele. And her symbol is the black meteorite.
“This Rome indeed smells Cybele. The black rock that was brought from Troy, Aeneas who worshiped this Cybele and no one know whom else… There is much of this darkness inside it, it bears it from really ancient times,” the philosopher told.
Cybele worship, Kurginyan continued, connects the Roman civilization with the metahistorical Creto-Minoan culture, from which the line of time can be passed further into the Nile River delta, where an ancient Egyptian cult of the god of darkness and death Seth existed and evolved, which extended its influence across the coast of Asia Minor, where Troy was allegedly located.
Kurginyan noted that so ancient and semi-mythical scenarios should not be underestimated because their influence maintains in certain elite circles.
“They can say, who can be interested today in Trojans or anything like that? it may look uninteresting. However, firstly, they have always been interesting to the elite, and this is what makes it true elite, and secondly, this is inside the archetype, in everything, inside. And in the 21st century it bursts out as a conflict between the civilization of love and the civilization of death,” the political scientist stressed.
He noted, however, that it was none other than Pope John Paul II that called the Western world the civilization of death; i.e. one of the most prominent and influential members of this world. He was a convinced Russophobe and anti-communist who contributed greatly to the destruction of the USSR, but later he said that the West built a civilization of death on its ruins.
“He said that when he was horrified to see that as soon as you destroy Russia, communism, and many other things, something quite particular and seeming to be an insignificant component of the humanity, you immediately find that the humanity transforms from a civilization of love, life, history into a civilization of death,” Kurginyan concluded.
