Russian border guards eliminated three out of eight Ukrainian fighters from a sabotage-recon unit trying to infiltrate Russian territory near the village of Terebreno in the Belgorod region, Telegram channel SHOT reported on December 18.
According to the channel, the Ukrainian sabotage-recon group moved from the direction of the village of Grabovskoye in the Sumy region and at around 11:30 (Moscow time) approached the border with the Russian Krasnoyaruzhsky district. Border guards of the Russian Armed Forces spotted them. A gun combat erupted between the Russian military and the saboteurs, which lasted about half an hour.
As a result of the clash, three of the saboteurs were killed, while the others managed to escape. It is reported that one of them was wounded. There were no casualties on the part of the Russian military. It is also reported that the eliminated saboteurs were armed with US M4 rifles, several rocket-propelled grenade launchers, and C4-type explosive kits.
An hour after the unsuccessful sabotage-recon unit’s penetration, the Ukrainian side fired at least 50 120mm and 6 82 mm mortar shells at the village of Terebreno in Russia. As a result of the shelling, a power line and three residential houses were damaged.
Vyacheslav Gladkov, Governor of the Belgorod region, said that Popovka and the outskirts of Repyakhovka also came under fire – 2 hits were reported in each village. There were no casualties or damage.
