Kiev asked for an unrealistically large number of shells from the United States to present the refusal as a reason for the defeat, according to the report from the theater of war published in The Essence of Time newspaper, issue 564.
In early December, Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief Valeriy Zaluzhnyy asked Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin to provide Kiev with 17 million shells. In addition, he asked for $350-400 billion in military and economic aid.
According to media reports, the request took Austin by surprise.
“The quantity of shells demanded by Zaluzhny do not exist not only in the United States, but in the entire Western world. Therefore, the commander-in-chief is trying to soft the blow in advance under the pretext that Ukraine lost because it was not given weapons and ammunition in the required quantities,” The Essence of Time editorial reads.
