Russians made their bet on love in this world – this is their inner identity, said political scientist, philosopher, the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan on November 23 during the XVIII All-Russian Conference “Health is the basis of human potential: problems and ways to solve them.”
“A civilization is a mono-religious structure in which a religion dominates. Well, whatever you read it in the works of Toynbee, Spengler, Danilevsky, or anyone else. Russia is incredibly more complicated. It is, naturally, a meta-civilization. And we can’t undo it. This is how this world was built,” noted Kurginyan.
The political scientist recalled Igor Guberman’s (a contemporary Russian writer and poet of Jewish ancestry) polemic with Fyodor Tyutchev, a Russian poet and diplomat of the 19th century: “A certain gentleman named Guberman said that it’s time, for f***’s sake, to grasp Russia with the reasoning mind. Many times I suggested to look at Tyutchev’s portrait and Guberman’s photograph, and ask yourself a simple question, who is smarter?”
He emphasized that Tyutchev understood something that Huberman could not – mind alone is not enough to comprehend it all . “This philosophy of life says that explanations are not enough, in order to grasp something one should use the heart and mind at the same time,” explained Kurginyan.
According to him, when a Russian person grasps it with the mind and heart at the same time, it becomes clear that Tyutchev’s words “and we will try with love” have the most fundamental meaning.
“The Russians have really committed themselves to a world of love. This is their inner identity. This does not mean that there were no suppressions, repressions on the frontiers or anything else. But in reality it was a world of love,” Kurginyan concluded.
