Talks about reconciliation in Ukraine are an attempt to pass off wishful thinking as reality, said philosopher, analyst, and leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan on the air of the Conversation with a Sage program on Radio Zvezda on December 01.
The political scientist noted that those politicians who have a good sense of the situation in the world have changed their attitude to the Ukrainian crisis over time.
Sergey Kurginyan noted that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine: “They (the West) will get over it and calm down“. Subsequently, the Russian Foreign Minister, who is “quite sensitive to what comes from his diplomatic adversary called ‘the West’,” changed his position and characterized the conflict in Ukraine as follows: “Nobody is going to calm down, all this is serious and for a long time.”
The analyst emphasized that not everyone in power has changed their point of view, and that some still dream of reconciliation with the West.
“Very many people kept on saying that it is easy to come to some kind of reconciliation, and after that some kind of idyll in relations between the West and Russia will come again,” the political analyst emphasized.
“We had the illusion that we would complete all this within 20 days, 15 days, 30 days. That everything would happen with little blood on a foreign land. And when it suddenly turned out that this was not the case, there was a kind of consternation,” Sergey Kurginyan explained.
“This sea of blood had not yet been spilled, all the production lines had not yet switched to a military lifestyle. And probably then, at the very beginning of the path, some kind of a brake would have been possible (I don’t think it would have been effective). But it didn’t happen,” the political scientist noted.
