Rheinmetall receives a €142 million order for 155mm ammunition for Ukraine

04.12.2023, Berlin.

Rheinmetall won an order to produce 155-mm artillery ammunition for Ukraine, the company’s press service informed on December 4.

The statement reads that tens of thousands of shells were to be produced, the exact figure was not given.

According to the company’s press release, the customer is one of the NATO member-countries. The delivery under this order is scheduled for 2025.

The munitions will be produced by Rheinmetall’s recently acquired Spanish subsidiary Expal Munitions. The same company will produce munitions under a recently signed contract with the German government (more than one hundred thousand 155mm rounds, and DM 121 fragmentation projectiles).

The company said there was high demand for ammunition due to deliveries to Ukraine, as well as depleting stocks in Germany and other NATO and EU countries.

Rheinmetall intends to increase its ammunition production to 700,000 artillery rounds in 2024. It is reported that the company signed multi-year framework agreements with the Bundeswehr to supply ammunition worth more than 1 billion euros.
