29.10.2023, Moscow.

The Presidium of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (DUM) of the Russian Federation called on Muslims not to give in to provocations and calls to action against adherents of a different faith. The corresponding statement was published on October 29 on the website of the DUM in connection with anti-Israeli incidents in Dagestan.

“We urge Russian Muslims <…> not to give in to provocative calls, to preserve humanity and patriotic feelings towards our united homeland – Russia,” the statement reads. “Any calls and actions aimed at persecuting people based on national and religious principles are criminal,” the statement reads.

The DUM Presidium also recommended federal and local authorities to immediately respond to the ongoing speeches in the regions.

“We are ready to explain to the representatives of the authorities the attitude of Islam to such excesses and declare the need to intensify state-confessional interaction without waiting for the aggravation of the situation,” the organization stressed.

Earlier, the head of Dagestan Sergey Melikov published an appeal not to give in to provocations and attempts to split Russian society, which are organized by enemy Internet resources.
