Battalion of former Ukrainian POWs established in the Russian army

The first battalion of former prisoners of war joined the Russian Armed Forces, its commander Andrey Tishchenko said, RIA Novosti informed on October 27.

“At the moment, we were enlisted in the military unit of the operative combat tactical unit Kaskad, and directly here, we will carry out our further service,” Tishchenko said. He also noted that at the end of the training all the unit’s fighters will take the oath.

The battalion will go to the front after taking the oath. Tishchenko specified that the fighters had all the necessary equipment and weapons.

For the first time, Tishchenko announced the formation of the battalion from the former Ukrainian military in February. According to him, the entire personnel of the unit was selected for physical and moral condition. The military personnel were also checked for involvement in war crimes against civilians.
