Russian troops thwarted an attempted Ukrainian army landing near a railway bridge near Kherson, a representative of the Dnepr troop group told reporters on October 22.
“An attempted landing of the enemy in the area of a small railroad bridge was thwarted. As a result of fire attack, 4 boats and 20 Ukrainian army fighters were destroyed,” the representative of the Russian troops in the Kherson direction noted.
Ukrainian troops still hold several bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnieper, in particular in the area of the railroad bridge near the village of Antonovka on the border of Kherson. However, there are only small concentrations of forces there.
The Ukrainian army regularly attempts to move reinforcements and ammunition there under fire from Russian troops.
The open terrain on this section of the front prevents the unnoticed accumulation of forces and pontoons for a large-scale landing, which are vulnerable to artillery fire.
