In order to save Russia and the global civilization, the Russian spirit has to awaken in our society to affect the material aspects of Russia’s life, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, philosopher and political scientist Sergey Kurginyan said on the program Conversation with a Sage of the Zvezda radio station.
Kurginyan gave a positive assessment to what is taking place in Russia: Russia has thermonuclear weapons, and the new Sarmat launch platform will soon enter combat duty. He also noted that our defense industry has raised its production. In his opinion, this is necessary but not sufficient.
However, the political scientist believes that, if he is right in his assessment of the contemporary ruling class in the USA and the future prospects, then everything Russia is doing now is insufficient to hold out.
“If this assessment is right, then everything that is taking place now is necessary but not sufficient, and it relies, I think, on excessive optimism according to the principle:
‘As one Man,
All the Soviet people
Will stand to defend their Motherland,’” Kurginyan stressed.
The political scientist indicated that the Russian society lacks the kind of unity it used to have during the Great Patriotic War.
He noted that there is a majority that is ready to support the existential war, but it still needs to be properly mobilized. Besides, there is an active minority, which hates the confrontation between Russia and the West, and which manifests its attitude in several modes: “imitatively loyal, indifferent, and confrontational.”
Kurginyan reminded about the inertia of the previous way of life established over the past 30 years.
Based on the reality of our previous way of being, many believe that the Russian soldiers are heroically fighting and perform perfectly at the front, but they are doing so for the sake of the other people of the rear regions of Russia to continue their idle festivities without changing their life at all. However, this approach is impossible for Russia, the political scientist stressed.
“This is what poorly ended during World War One, although the situation was better then. All these festivities in the rear in contrast to the military things when soldiers suffer from pediculosis in the entrenchments… My grandfather was an officer during World War One, and he told in detail what it looked like,” the leader of the Essence of Time movement explained.
The political scientist noted that in a situation when the very existence of Russia is under attack, the circumstances mentioned above based on the awakening Russian spirit keep the situation at the front and inside the country stable.
“Today, we are happy with the fact that we are in a strong defense, right?” Kurginyan explained.
In his opinion, in order to reach a situation when the Russian genocide and the destruction of the global civilization are avoided, we must “slowly and cautiously activate the strategic machine of this Russian spirit to infiltrate into the Russian way of being.”
Kurginyan suggests that this should be done not at the “bureaucratized formal” level as it happened in the late Soviet period, but “at the level of an actual, self-sacrificing effort, which exists, and which can be supported.”
