Kurginyan: The US maintains a bipartisan consensus on support for Ukraine

21.09.2023, Moscow.

Both the US Democratic and Republican parties are interested in continuing to finance Ukraine, political scientist, analyst, philosopher, and leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said on September 8 in a new issue of the Conversation with a Sage program on the Zvezda radio station.

Speaking about the mood in the US policy regarding support for Ukraine, Sergey Kurginyan said, “So, the fact is that again two parties (bipartisan consensus) have proposed to continue funding.” In the political analyst’s opinion, politicians of both major US parties agree on this issue.

He emphasized that there could potentially be a configuration where the US Democratic Party loses power as a result of bribery and corruption scandals or other problems, and then Donald Trump could be back in power.

“Trump is a strange man, in the sense of not very typical of the US elite, but he is in the hands of the Republican Party,” the analyst pointed out. He reminded that the Republican Party is “much more hawkish” towards Russia and recalled the American saying “kill, а Commie for mommy.”

“Commies and Russians are the same thing for them, they don’t care how these Russians are called today. They are even more serious about it, they are even more oriented toward the will to power, toward such military-conservative dominance,” Kurginyan explained.

Essence of Time’s leader also pointed out that despite the growing fatigue in US society about Ukraine, US politicians will be able to incline public opinion toward the continuation of the mainstream – war by all means. This can be done by creating one or another provocative reason or a new “horror story about the Russians.”

On September 6, the leaders of the US Democratic and Republican parties in the US Senate spoke in favor of further allocation of funds for military aid to Ukraine.
