“Englishwoman makes mischief.” Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Director about relations between Russia and the UK

06.09.2023, Moscow.

The UK remains an extremely dangerous geopolitical adversary of Russia. Sergei Naryshkin, Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), stated this in an interview with the Russian magazine Natsionalnaya Oborona on September 6.

“Up until the beginning of the 20th century, the United Kingdom led the way in anti-Russian aspirations, even participated in military campaigns against our country – the 1853-1856 war in the Crimea and the Far East, the intervention in the North of Russia in 1918-1920. The threads of many wars and conflicts in Europe, involving Russia against its interests, often led to London,” Naryshkin said.

He emphasized that Field Marshal Suvorov’s simple phrase “Englishwoman makes mischief” is still relevant today.

“The UK’s power has long since waned, but, led by an unprincipled suzerain (the United States), it continues to be extremely dangerous,” the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Director concluded.

Earlier Russian ambassador to the UK Andrey Kelin said that London would have to recognize the failure of the Ukrainian counter-offensive despite the current attempts to disagree with it.
