Russia will not be able to transform itself and become a center of power, capable of carrying out any actions, including ideological and messianic, until it recognizes its solitude in this world, said political scientist, philosopher, the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan on August 25 in the Conversation with a Sage program on Radio Zvezda.
The political scientist recalled that the Soviet Union was a superpower, there was a socialist bloc, and the USSR held “a part of the world by the throat.” Now, the situation is different, noted Kurginyan. Europe is dependent on the USA, it is not sovereign. And the whole world is like that, and “it will be like that until the moment when the US and China finally enter into direct and ruthless confrontation,” emphasized Sergey Kurginyan.
According to the leader of the Essence of Time movement, hopes that a certain country will become sovereign are an illusion. He added that we should not create an illusion, because it does not allow Russia to transform in the right way.
“As long as these illusions exist and Russia does not live through the horror of its solitude, it will not be completely transformed. It will not complete the transformation, it will not show its best abilities of being able to overcome. It will not be transformed in the right way, it will not rise as a global center of power, ready to carry out any actions, including ideological and messianic. It will not find itself in the only appropriate position that would guarantee the survival in a very difficult, horrifying 21st century,” said the political scientist.
Today, rejecting the old illusions is what the real strategy precisely should be, added then expert. At the same time, according to Kurginyan, they are holding on to illusions because for a long time Russia was on a course towards integration with the West, and now “the mentality remains essentially the same, especially among the elites.” The elites want to go back to the old ways aimed at integration, they really hope so.
“The supporters of integration wish to follow the same path. But if it’s impossible as a whole, then if only at 10% completion. If not 10% them may be 5%. But we hold on to every percentage point and all the time we hope that the past will come back. It won’t come back!” – said the leader of the Essence of Time.
Sergey Kurginyan noted that illusions are fueled by contradictions between countries that objectively exist. For example, he pointed to contradictions between the UK and the US, between Israel and the UK. However, according to the political scientist, all these contradictions can work only when the US finally falls, but not before.
“Everything is saturated with colossal energy of contradictions. But they can explode only when Rome, the new Rome, falls completely. And it is not falling, it is only shaking. And in a situation when it is shaking, everyone will be inferior to it – and getting anxious at the same time, because it is already shaking. When the global hegemon is shaking, everyone else feels inferior and getting anxious at the same time. And this is the main contradiction of the current foreign policy,” concluded Kurginyan.
