BZ: Scholz shows extreme disregard for German citizens, this must be stopped

21.08.2023, Berlin.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz cannot continue to disregard German citizens in such an extremely arrogant manner, he must be stopped, Berliner Zeitung journalist Ruth Schneeberger wrote on August 21.

During a speech at Marienplatz in Munich, Olaf Scholz called people who support the “warmonger,” referring to the Russian president, “fallen angels from hell.” According to Schneeberger – this is too much. Such words are unacceptable for a government official.

The journalist believes that speaking in such a pejorative and frankly inhuman tone is inappropriate, especially when you are the highest official in the country. And everyone knows it,

Schneeberger wonders how the chancellor’s behavior should be considered. Is it an example to follow? German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier has justly complained about a divided society, but the federal chancellor speaks publicly in an unacceptable way.

“Just imagine, would such a statement then have been made by Angela Merkel, or also Gerhard Schroeder, or even Helmut Kohl? The outrage would be great,” the journalist notes.

According to Schneeberger, the chancellor publicly promotes the undermining of mores, and someone has to stop this. She reminds that the country is already divided and “the majority of the country is not happy with this chancellor.” The journalist reminds that Scholz is not just a politician, but the chancellor of an entire nation – including those whom he offends in the worst possible way.
